Understanding CTOS & CCRIS in Malaysia

Your credit score is the key to unlocking loans. Learn the difference between CCRIS (by Bank Negara) and CTOS (private credit reporting agency).

1. What is CCRIS?

CCRIS stands for Central Credit Reference Information System. Created and managed by Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM), CCRIS synthesizes credit reports from participating financial institutions in Malaysia. It displays your outstanding loans, credit applications, and repayments over the last 12 months.

2. What is CTOS?

CTOS is a private, leading Credit Reporting Agency (CRA) in Malaysia regulated under the Credit Reporting Agencies Act 2010. It sources data from public records (such as bankruptcy lists, legal cases, and business ownership registries) and provides credit scores between 300 and 850.
